Artful Tribeca & The Bowery

  • Selects Gallery & Atelier Jolie The Bowery New York NY (map)

This fantastic day is filled with unique artful adventures in two exciting locales! First is a private tour with Marie Audier D'Alessandris, founder of Selects Gallery on the Bowery. She will describe her professional experiences in the beauty and fashion industries in the US and France.

Not only is this space an interior designer's paradise (and open to professionals in the trade), the exhibition on view, Threads of Time, is an original collaboration of the legendary fashion photographer Robert Farber and Delphine Nobili, founder of Atelier Lebuisson, a Parisian textile studio specializing in haute couture embroidery.

By blending Farber's mesmerizing stylish photographs and Nubili's masterful hand-made embellishments, the results are the perfect combination of a masculine American viewpoint through photography and the soft feminine touch of the threads. Everyone is sure to enjoy the experience of exploring the gallery and its design space while learning about the very special art on view.

The other stop is just around the corner to a NYC artful landmark with an interesting history. The building at 57 Great Jones Street once belonged to Pop Art icon Andy Warhol. Warhol let Jean-Michel Basquiat use as a studio/residence between 1983-1988. The building's facade still stands as a shrine to the artist with graffiti, street art and historic plaque.

Fast forward to today, where Hollywood star and philanthropist Angelina Joie has leased the building and dubbed it "Atelier Jolie". She created a creative hub for artists and designers from across the globe to take classes and workshops with their own artist-in-residence team, hold exhibitions and build an artful community. Take a look around with us and perhaps have a treat on-your-own at their charming Cafe Eat Offbeat.
